Upper Mustang Trek

Overview

Journey to the ancient forbidden kingdom of Lo Manthang in the rain shadow of the Himalayas.

Upper Mustang, once the forbidden kingdom of Lo, is one of Nepal's most remote and culturally preserved regions. The landscape is dramatically different from the rest of Nepal — a high-altitude desert of eroded cliffs, ancient cave monasteries, and Tibetan-influenced villages. A special restricted area permit is required.

Fascinating culture and landscapes. Very different from other parts of Nepal. Special permit costs are high.
